- The brand and the model number. Where the model number hides covers the usual places on a refrigerator.
- Any code on the display, written out exactly — the same characters mean different things on different brands.
- What it is doing, and when it started. The symptom index is a good way to put it into words.
- Whether anything changed first — a power cut, a move, a setting someone adjusted.
