What it means
This is Cooling Off — a demonstration mode meant for a showroom floor, where the lights and the display work and the appliance does not refrigerate. It is not a fault, nothing has failed, and no part needs replacing. It arrives two ways: a newly delivered unit that was never taken out of the mode, or a button combination pressed by accident while cleaning the panel.
What to do now
- Check whether the compartment is actually cold. If it is not, and the display is otherwise healthy, this is almost certainly the explanation.
- Look up the exit combination for your model in the manual — it is a press-and-hold on two buttons and it differs between generations.
- If the unit was delivered recently, say so when you call; it changes the conversation entirely.
- Give it several hours to come down to temperature after the mode is cleared.
What not to do
Do not treat it as a cooling failure and do not order parts against it. An appliance in this mode is behaving exactly as designed.
A code is a lead, not a verdict
The same characters mean different things on different brands, and sometimes on different generations of the same brand. Two things make a code worth acting on: the exact characters, and the model number they came from. Without the second, the first is a guess.
Write the code down before you reset anything, photograph the display rather than transcribing it, and note whether the appliance is still cooling while it shows. That last answer decides whether this waits for a scheduled visit or not.
